As the Glasses Are CleanedCleaning these glasses with dirty old rags, I watch these young boys come in with delight. They carry their money in plastic bags And plunder her innocence with their sight. The young girl, half-clothed on the stage, Wore a smile that did not reach her eyes. Her black, shiny curls masked her youthful age. The life she lived was a basket of lies. She dances for their delight and pleasure; Those boys give her not but coins and their eyes. She does a quick hip shake for good measure; They whistle and jeer; each night she just cries. The God of this World A balding man sat upon a cliché wooden chair, typical of what one would see in a movie bar fight. He was seated in the middle of a stone white cube with only one way in or out.
